Overview We are hiring a full‑time, permanent Utility Worker I, II, or III to support our Utility Department in Arizona’s Eastern Division. The role is based in the Paradise Valley office and involves work across multiple locations—including Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Anthem, Fountain Hills, Tubac, and the Colorado River District.

What You’ll Do

Repair and maintain fire hydrants, main line valves, water service lines, water mains, water meters, and fittings.

Install new water services and conduct water system flushing, quality sampling, flow testing, and traffic control.

Perform preventive maintenance activities such as valve exercising and fire hydrant inspections.

Maintain and repair wastewater collection systems—sewer laterals, mains, taps, blockages, roach control, and manhole repairs.

Provide assistance to Field Service Representatives and meter readers, and locate lines when required.

Perform other related work as asked.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record.

Basic computer literacy; ability to complete service orders and reports accurately using Microsoft Word, Excel, and customer information systems.

Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including related tools, equipment, and safety procedures.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, service orders, maintenance manuals, meters, and charts.

Strong physical capability to perform heavy manual labor—lifting up to 70 lbs, working in confined spaces, and tolerating extreme weather conditions.

Ability to operate motor vehicles and utility equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, valve exercisers, and mini‑vactor units.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with internal and external customers.

Flexibility to work independently and respond to callouts, overtime, weekends, and holiday emergencies.

Familiarity with drinking‑water rules and regulations; ability to perform standardized water‑quality tests.

Minimum Requirements by Level

Utility Worker‑In‑Training

– High school diploma or equivalent; valid Arizona driver’s license.

Utility Worker I

– High school diploma or equivalent; valid Arizona driver’s license with CDL; Grade 1 certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection.

Utility Worker II

– Valid Arizona driver’s license with CDL; Grade 2 certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection; one year of on‑the‑job experience or equivalent.

Utility Worker III

– Valid Arizona driver’s license with CDL; Grade 3 certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection; two years of on‑the‑job experience or equivalent.
