About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Excess Casualty Underwriting. This key role is focused on managing and growing a profitable book of excess casualty business within the E&S market, specifically through appointed wholesale brokers. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting, maintaining a long-term business approach, and effectively managing relationships and risk. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the efficiency of underwriters and technical assistants, as well as utilizing personal underwriting authority to contribute to the organization's success.
The ideal candidate for this position at the company will have a Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong understanding of industry and company best practices, underwriting guidelines, and risk appetite is essential. The role requires a production-oriented excess casualty underwriting executive with a proven track record of building strong relationships within the wholesale brokerage channel. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to lead and influence others, possess strong technical knowledge of excess casualty underwriting theories and practices, and have a broad understanding of the specialty insurance market and operations. Strong presentation, leadership, and project management skills are also necessary for this position.
