Job Description and Duties Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications to fill at least one (1) Limited Term, Full-time Personnel Specialist in the Human Resources – Compensation Unit. The Personnel Specialist reports to the Personnel Supervisor I. Selected candidates may be eligible for an annual recruitment and retention payment of $2,400.00. Limited term positions may be extended up to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.
The Personnel Specialist handles payroll and personnel transactions, including applying state laws, rules, regulations, bargaining unit contracts, and processing various personnel/payroll transactions. Knowledge of computer systems such as Word, Excel, Access, and state personnel/payroll systems is highly desirable. Candidates should have excellent organization, customer service skills, attention to detail, and team support capabilities.
Required skills include proficient math, computer, communication skills, dependability, tact, good judgment, confidentiality, and adherence to deadlines. Overtime may be required. Applicants may need to complete a mathematical or structured exercise during the interview process.
