Job Summary: The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform technical and analytical work in maintenance and application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data for the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system utilized by Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Rescue, and law enforcement agencies within Lake County. Primary responsibilities include creating GIS solutions for resolving business/operational problems, collecting and maintaining GIS data, map creation, troubleshooting technical problems, providing professional customer service at all times, and performing related work as assigned. The position works independently or as part of a small team, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. May provide oversight to GIS Analysts, GIS technicians and other GIS liaisons throughout the county. Reports directly to the County’s GIS Administrator and will coordinate directly with the appropriate County Office of Fire Rescue and law enforcement project client for decision making. This position may require work after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays. This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS technology, Information Systems Management, computer science or other closely related field with three (3) years of related experience of database systems, scripting, and networking is preferable.

Previous experience with 911 Dispatch Center operations along with fire service, EMS, and law enforcement field responder general operational knowledge is preferred.

Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), or ESRI ArcGIS Associate Certification. Can obtain within two (2) years.

Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
