Job Summary Under the supervision of the Radiologist and according to established procedures, operates diagnostic X-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic films according to Radiologist specifications. Performs diagnostic procedures including fluoroscopy and invasive exams as required, supports portable imaging in NICU, Pediatric, OR, ICU, ER; outpatient X-rays. May perform mobile and surgical procedures in the surgical suites and patient rooms. Assists in specialized procedures and GI exams as required. Responds to emergency situations and makes sound clinical judgments. May float to other Baystate Health locations as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrates excellent customer service through positive patient experience; maintains confidentiality.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in imaging equipment in area of specialty.
Operates CR, DR, PACs and modality-specific equipment.
Properly identifies patient information using two identifiers; complies with safety standards and ARRT ethics; performs routine to urgent imaging procedures; provides high quality exams.
Maintains operational communication with supervisor; follows through with assigned tasks.
Works as a member of the health care team including physicians, nurses and other professionals.
Operates and maintains exam rooms and equipment; performs quality checks; keeps areas stocked and clean; manages supplies and waste.
Notifies radiologist of examination findings requiring immediate response and ensures timely transfer of images to PACS.
Ensures compliance with JC, MQSA, ACR, DPH/CMS requirements; participates in QA and QC activities.
Delivers accurate, high-quality exams with proper technique and patient instruction.
Maintains skills for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Present self professionally to patients and customers; participates in in-service training.
Suggests positive changes to departmental policies/procedures as appropriate.
Inputs data into modality-specific systems accurately.
Assists in training technologists, residents and students when assigned; shows willingness to learn new procedures.
Maintains strict safety standards to protect patients, families, staff and visitors.
Coordinates patients and procedures to maximize productivity.
Assists radiologist in sterile procedures as required; follows radiation safety procedures and wears monitoring devices as appropriate.
Work independently in all areas as needed.
Minimum Requirements
MA RT license and ARRT Registry
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
Preferred Work Experience

Able to work independently and be self-motivated
