divh2Activity Assistant/h2pWe are looking for an energetic, positive person to join the team of a very busy Activity Department. An Activity Assistant leads various social and recreational programs in large and small group settings. To be effective in this job, you need to be patient, have compassion and like to have fun. You will assist the Activity Director in planning and programming as well as documenting the participation of the residents. The Activity Assistant is responsible for carrying out activities that are meaningful to the residents based on their life interests and hobbies. Activities should enhance the quality of life and self-esteem of each resident./ppActivity Assistant Responsibilities:/pulliLeading daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation./liliUtilizing techniques during activities that accommodate those with special needs./liliObserving participants at events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events./liliDocumenting participation and responses to various activity interventions./liliReporting medical concerns or observations./liliCarrying out the Activity Program as scheduled and on time./liliTransporting residents to and from activities./liliAssisting with writing the monthly newsletter./liliAssisting with thematic and seasonal decorating./liliSupervising resident smoking./liliAdhering to and enforcing all safety procedures./li/ulpActivities Assistant Requirements:/pulliHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required./liliExperience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related preferred but not required./liliAbility to pass a background check and drug screening./liliPhysical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands./liliAdaptability and strong organization and time management skills./liliExcellent interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills./liliGood skills with computers, electronic devices, and audio/video equipment is beneficial./liliPatience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds./liliFlexibility to work when needed, every other weekend is required and possibly some evenings./liliWillingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures./li/ul/div
