Under minimal supervision, provide semi-professional technical support for working in material condition assessment, fault diagnostics, corrective maintenance, corrective recommendations, testing, and process improvement. Work pertains to providing support to a San Diego-based customer for the repair of Naval ship diesel engines./ppDuties and Responsibilities:/pulliReviews or prepares Process Control Procedures (PCPs) for diesel engine work./liliBriefs ships crew and managers on the status of assigned tasks and/or repairs./liliProvides on-the-job training to ship crews when conducting maintenance and/or critical repairs./liliUse technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot faults and casualties on various diesel engines and associated auxiliary equipment and systems./liliAssist in identifying causes of equipment/system failure at the component level./liliProvides technical assistance and on-the-job training to active duty and other government personnel relative to the operation, maintenance, grooming, overhaul, and repair of diesel engines./liliWork from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions./liliPerform non-routine assignments involving relatively limited scope through larger, more diverse repairs./liliPerform tests to evaluate engine and/or component performance in accordance with technical guidance utilizing specified tool and/or of instruments./liliAnalyzes test results, prepare reports on findings and provide recommendations./liliPerforms complex operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment./liliGathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc./li/ulpRequired Qualifications:/pulliHigh School Diploma or equivalent./liliMinimum 4 years work related experience./liliMinimum 4 years specialized experience assessing and diagnosing faults with Navy diesel engines./liliAbility to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance./liliFormal training in diesel engine operation, maintenance

diagnostics from any of the following: Navy Diesel Engine Training Courses or Original Equipment Manufacturer schools relevant to:/liulliFairbanks Morse Defense/Colt Pielstick PC 2.5/liliFairbanks Morse Defense/Colt Pielstick PA6B STC/liliFairbanks Morse Defense 8 -1/8 Opposed Piston Marine Engine/liliCaterpillar 3608/liliGM EMD 645E/liliMTU Model 20V 8000 M90/li/ulliEffective oral and written communication./liliSound interpersonal skills needed to interface, coordinate with company personnel, customers, and outside contacts, if appropriate./liliBasic computer skills./liliExperience with Formal Work Procedures (FWPs) and Controlled Work Procedures (CWPs) IAW JFFM may be substituted for PCP experience./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliNavy NEC: 733B, U13A, U24A, U25A, U26A./liliKnowledgeable in Navy QA and Planning procedures./liliKnowledgeable in Navy Quality assurance practices and Joint Fleet./liliMaintenance Manual (JFMM) chapters relating to maintenance of diesel engines./li/ulpPay Range: The pay range for this role is $23.31 - $26.07 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role.
