The connection we have to the source of our fresh foods is core to the way we do business, becoming the first major supermarket in the United States to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested./ppPRIMARY PURPOSE: Manage retail operations for the assigned department making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise quality and presentation and the level of service offered to our customers. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Hannaford Strategy through store huddles, role modeling our cultural behaviors and consistent use of all available tools to help manage for performance. Ensure that store conditions involving store appearance, security, safety and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest level. Accountable for proper control of company assets./ppDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:/pulliFoster a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers./liliEnsure that all quality standards are met./liliManage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices./liliEnsure the maintenance of the departments appearance and presentation./liliHire, train and develop associates to meet the department needs./liliAttain departmental financial objectives./liliSupervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all assigned department associates./liliRole model outstanding friendly customer service./liliUse good judgement in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance of the department./liliEnsure the maintenance of accurate records of production, shrink, sales and inventory./liliMust be able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations./liliProvide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling when necessary./liliTreat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect./liliEnsure department associates are properly trained by certified trainers./liliEnsure all company policies and procedures are followed as outlined./liliDevelop product knowledge in all areas of the assigned department./liliUse RF (Radio Frequency) unit as needed./liliRetrieve and organize assigned departments product loads./liliAssist in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control to maximize sales and limit shrink issues./liliConduct performance appraisals on all department associates according to company standards./liliMaintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards as well as associates personal needs./liliUnderstand and use company tools such as: MPP, financial reports, scheduling, ordering and business information systems./liliEnsure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed to maximize profitability, paying special attention to priority categories./liliMaintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization./liliObserve and ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety and food safety standards./liliUnderstand the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink./liliHave total understanding of the departments standard practice manual and Program Manuals for each assigned departments program./liliPerform all other duties as assigned./liliStrong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques./liliExcellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills./liliExcellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job./liliDemonstrated good judgement solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances./liliDesire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments./liliDepartment Manager or equivalent experience required./liliCollege degree or equivalent preferred./liliMust be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a Certified Food Safety Manager or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliAbility to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions./liliLift up to 20 lbs. regularly, including overhead lifting and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
