We are looking for a dedicated individual to function as a cashier and/or stocker and act in a lead capacity in the absence of the store manager or assistant store manager. The role involves assisting in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, providing exemplary customer service, and performing other duties to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, while protecting company assets and reducing losses. Duties and essential job functions include unloading trucks, following company work processes to receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes, stocking merchandise, rotating and facing merchandise on shelves, building merchandise displays, restocking returned and recovered merchandise, ordering zones and drop shipment categories, assisting in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance, assisting customers by locating merchandise, bailing cardboard, taking out trash, dusting and mopping store floors, cleaning restrooms and stockrooms, greeting customers, maintaining register countertops, operating cash register and flatbed scanner, collecting payment from customer, making change, and cleaning the front end of the store. Qualifications include the ability to perform mathematical calculations, knowledge of cash handling procedures, ability to perform cash register functions, knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and understanding of safety policies and practices. High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) are preferred. Working conditions involve frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling; frequent handling of merchandise and equipment; frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds; occasional climbing; fast-paced environment; moderate noise level; occasional exposure to outside weather conditions; occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings, and travel to other Dollar General stores.
