You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, owners and suppliers to optimize accuracy and meet requirements. Job Summary
The Estimator plays a vital role in construction projects by gathering information for accurate and detailed project cost estimates. This position involves collaboration with project managers, engineers, owners and suppliers. Responsibilities include building detailed project cost estimates and bid proposals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze project scope: Review blueprints, technical specifications, and other project documentation to understand the full scope of work. Perform quantity takeoffs: Accurately measure and quantify materials, labor, and equipment for earthworks, roadways, drainage, and utilities. Supported by specialized estimating software (B2W Estimate, Agtek Gradework, Planswift, Office Suite). Solicit and evaluate bids: Collect and compare quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing. Collaborate with project teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop bid strategies, present findings, and recommend cost?saving measures or risk mitigation. Prepare and submit proposals: Assemble all gathered data into comprehensive, well?organized cost estimates and bid proposals for clients or bidding competitions. Identify and assess risks: Factor potential variables such as weather delays, material shortages, or difficult site conditions into the estimate.
Qualifications
3+ years of proven experience in construction and estimating. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes, especially for civil site work. Proficiency with industry?standard estimating and takeoff software (B2W Estimate, Agtek Gradework, Planswift, Office Suite). Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem?solving skills for accurate cost calculations. Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate proposals and negotiate with vendors and clients. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure all costs are captured and the final estimate is precise.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to work on uneven surfaces. Reasonable ability to sit and stand for long periods. May require use of personal protective equipment. Conduct all business professionally and ethically and listen actively to client needs. Excellent time?management skills.
