We empower children affected by cancer to explore their artistic passions through art, music, writing, acting, singing, and other creative mediums. Content Writer
plays a key role in shaping A Free Bird’s voice across digital platforms. This role focuses on writing compelling, mission-driven content that informs, inspires, and engages donors, families, volunteers, and partners. The Content Writer collaborates closely with the Multimedia, Communications, Marketing, and Fundraising teams to support campaigns, storytelling initiatives, and organizational updates. This role is ideal for a strong writer who is passionate about storytelling, nonprofit work, and creating content with purpose. Responsibilities Content Creation Write original, engaging content for blogs, newsletters, website pages, email campaigns, and social media captions Support storytelling initiatives by drafting participant stories, program highlights, and impact-driven narratives Assist with writing copy for campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and promotional materials Editing & Brand Alignment Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, accuracy, tone, and consistency with A Free Bird’s brand voice Collaborate with Graphic Design and Multimedia teams to align written content with visual assets Collaboration & Research Work cross-functionally with Programs, Fundraising, PR, and Marketing teams to gather information and translate it into compelling written content Research relevant topics, trends, and best practices to strengthen messaging and audience engagement Content Management & Optimization Support content calendars and help track deadlines and deliverables Assist with basic SEO best practices and content optimization for digital platforms Revise content based on performance insights and feedback Qualifications 0–2+ years of experience in writing, communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields (internship or volunteer experience accepted) Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills Ability to adapt writing style for different platforms and audiences Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills Comfortable working independently in a remote environment Proficiency in Google Docs and collaborative editing tools Interest in nonprofit storytelling, arts, or youth advocacy is a plus Why Join Us?
