PUBLIC NOTICE- DEA Criminal Investigators

Conduct complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug‑related activities. Prepare comprehensive investigative reports and deliver briefings for senior personnel and other Federal, state, and local agencies. Identify and apprehend drug traffickers and arrest individuals engaged in criminal drug activities. Gather and analyze evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means. Testify on behalf of the Federal government in court or before grand juries. Additional duties may be assigned based on the individual's unique knowledge, skills, and experience. Basic Agent Training

Applicants who have not completed federal law‑enforcement training elsewhere must attend a 16‑week residential training program. Current or former GL‑1811 applicants who completed a federal Criminal Investigation training program may qualify for a 3‑week Special Agent Transition Program. FCIT transcripts must be attached. Requirements

U.S. citizenship required. Must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance. Must agree to a mobility agreement for relocation. Pre‑employment medical clearance and annual examination required. Full‑scope pre‑employment polygraph required. Selective Service registration (if applicable). Age 21 to 36 at appointment unless veteran or retired law‑enforcement eligible. Pass E‑Verify employment verification check. Serve a 1‑ or 2‑year trial period. Valid state driver’s license required. Random drug testing required. Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements described below. GL‑07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑05 level, including assisting in investigations, writing reports, and researching data. GL‑09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑07 level, including assistance in investigations, data collection, report writing, courtroom testimony, and interacting with law‑enforcement agencies. Gl‑11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑09 level, including conducting federal investigations, developing operational plans, undercover work, surveillance, and evidence organization. Educational substitutions: Undergraduate degrees with Superior Academic Achievement, graduate degrees or LL.B./J.D., or combinations of education and experience meeting 100% of the required percentage. Additional Information

Appointments will be made under 5 CFR 213.3210 Schedule B, excepted service appointments. Law enforcement availability may require substantial overtime and irregular schedules. Medical and firearms proficiency requirements apply. Relocation expenses are covered for Federal transfers; new Federal employees may cover other costs. Seniority Level
