Position Summary The Strategic Market Development Consultant is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and converting high-value business opportunities for Lake Austin Spa Resort. This role proactively drives revenue through strategic outreach and relationship-building with local organizations, small groups, wellness-focused communities, travel advisors, and niche markets aligned with the resort’s luxury wellness and destination spa positioning.

This is a high-touch, relationship-driven role requiring a polished communicator with a deep understanding of luxury wellness experiences, group dynamics, and local market conditions. The consultant serves as a brand ambassador, storyteller, and connector—positioning Lake Austin Spa Resort as the premier wellness retreat destination within the market.

Key Responsibilities Market Development & Strategic Outreach

Identify, research, and strategically pursue local, regional, and niche markets aligned with the resort’s wellness, incentive, and intimate group offerings.

Develop new pipelines including (but not limited to): associations, small businesses, leadership teams, wellness communities, physicians, executive retreats, and social groups.

Create market visibility and clearly differentiate Lake Austin Spa Resort from competitors such as Miraval and Canyon Ranch.

Proactively source and secure new partnership opportunities that enhance revenue and elevate brand visibility.

Represent Lake Austin Spa Resort at local and regional events as needed.

Design and execute unique brand activations that showcase the resort’s offerings in compelling, non-traditional settings.

Conduct outbound sales and relationship outreach to existing contacts with gift cards on file.

Group Sales & Lead Generation

Generate qualified leads for small corporate, social, and wellness groups seeking elevated retreat-style experiences.

Consult with planners and key decision-makers to understand objectives and recommend tailored itineraries reflective of the resort’s signature experiences.

Collaborate closely with the Marketing Director and Group Sales Manager to ensure a seamless handoff of leads and a consistent guest journey.

Relationship Management

Maintain a visible and consistent presence within the local community and surrounding markets.

Establish Lake Austin Spa Resort as the preferred destination for wellness retreats and intimate group experiences.

Cultivate long‑term partnerships that generate repeat business and referral opportunities.

Brand Alignment & Storytelling

Represent the resort’s values, luxury positioning, and wellness‑forward identity in all communications and outreach.

Develop a deep understanding of the resort’s differentiators and articulate them effectively to external partners and prospects.

Reporting & Performance

Track outreach efforts, lead generation, conversion rates, and ROI for all market development initiatives.

Monitor trends in the local and regional luxury wellness segments to identify emerging opportunities.

Provide bi‑weekly reports, insights, and strategic recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

Proven experience in luxury hospitality sales, market development, partnerships, or business development.

Strong understanding of wellness, luxury travel, and experiential offerings.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.

Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and strategically.

Comfortable with outbound sales, networking, and community engagement.

Highly organized with strong reporting and analytical capabilities.

Familiarity with the Austin market and surrounding regions preferred.
