Job Overview Space Systems Command (SSC) is the epicenter of acquisition excellence for the U.S. Space Force, responsible for alltaf acquiring and developing cutting‑edge military space systems. From GPS and satellite communications to launch and missile warning systems, SSC’s portfolio is critical to national security and global operations. As a Contract Specialist you will play a vital role in acquiring highly specialized research and development capabilities to support the nation’s critical space programs, contributing to high‑impact, multi‑million‑dollar contracts that directly support the U.S. Space Force mission.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in acquisition planning and develop contractual strategies that support specific program elements, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and regulatory requirements.
Solicit, analyze, evaluate, and negotiate contractor proposals; manage all phases of the contract lifecycle from solicitation to close‑out.
Collaborateസ effectively as an integral member ofdelivery contracting team, contributing expertise and working towards shared goals.

Ideal Candidate
Progressively responsible federal government contracting experience, preferably at the systems level and within the Department of Defense, especially space systems acquisition.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year institution.
Basic understanding of FAR and agency‑specific regulations (e.g., DFARS) with demonstrated application of contracting principles, policies, and procedures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to convey complex information to program managers, technical experts, and contractors.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic contracting systems.
Key Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of program management and strategic planning activities needed to execute projects within financial and time constraints Tə.
Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations, manage human, financial, and information resources strategically.
Customer‑centricங்கள் – assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Persuade others to accept recommendations and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions.
Maintain effective relationships and communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
Organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress and evaluate outcomes.

Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations.
Eligible Jolie telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft for TDY assignments.
This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
PCS/relocation funding isubit authorized.
Financial Disclosure Statement: Employee must file an OGE‑450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report," within 30‑days of assuming this position and annually thereafter.
Position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) – approximately 20 days per year.
