Job Summary Construction Specialist II is responsible for coordinating utility job site construction including safety, material, and equipment staging and delivery, work packet completion, customer interaction and other construction activities. This position is also responsible for ensuring quality of construction and correct charging of materials, labor and equipment.
What You Will Do
Work under the direction of construction management and within established policies, procedures錄和 standards.
Ensure adherence to work, project schedules, standards, procedures and “as constructed” drawings are appropriately documented and returned to engineering.
Monitor quality of workreep performed by construction crew.
Demonstrate leadership in the area of safety, including observing and enforcing safety rules and operating practices, encouraging safe work behaviors and promptly correcting unsafe conditions.
Coordinate processes by working with project and construction managers, operations managers, contractors, customers and a variety of company personnel.
Coordinate material returns and project closure activities.
Understand and apply multiple labor contracts and contractor general agreements and pricing. Approve invoices with the level of approval authority.
May begin to develop or advance knowledge and understanding of switching/valving.
Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
Associate Degree in Construction Management or Utility Construction or other related field (Preferred)
Required Experience
5 years of related experience
Preferred Experience
Experience working in the construction or utility industry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Effective leadership skills.
Effective computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Knowledge of project management methods.
Working knowledge of electric, gas, substation and construction standards, design standards, work methods, equipment, electric equipment maintenance and materials. Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps, plans and profiles, substation construction prints and drawings. Ability to interpret right-of-way easements and agency permits.
Knowledge of applicable safety rules, applicable gas tweeted nor electrical codes or DOT regulations and governmental agency regulations.
Ability to apply union contracts.
Knowledge of internal accounting policies. Understanding of agreements withಉ contractors doing construction work.
Knowledge of environmental regulations, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, written and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range $80,000 - $105,000
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
