Job Summary Construction Specialist II coordinates utility job site construction, ensuring safety, material staging and delivery, work packet completion, customer interaction, and overall construction activities. The role maintains construction quality and accurate charging of materials, labor, and equipment.

What You Will Do

Work under the direction of construction management and within established policies, procedures, and standards.

Ensure adherence to work, project schedules, standards, procedures, and “as constructed” drawings are documented and returned to engineering.

Monitor quality of work performed by construction crew.

Demonstrate leadership in safety, observe and enforce safety rules, encourage safe work behaviors, and promptly correct unsafe conditions.

Coordinate processes with project managers, operations managers, contractors, customers, and company personnel.

Coordinate material returns and project closure activities.

Understand and apply multiple labor contracts and contractor agreements; approve invoices with appropriate authority.

Begin to develop knowledge of switching/valving.

Engage in other duties as needed to support Alliant Energy’s values and our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

Associate Degree in Construction Management or Utility Construction or related field (Preferred).

Required Experience

5 years of related utility or construction experience.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in the construction or utility industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Effective leadership skills.

Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Knowledge of project management methods.

Familiarity with electric, gas, substation and construction standards, design standards, work methods, equipment, and utility maps and drawings.

Understanding of safety rules, gas and electrical codes, DOT regulations, and government agency regulations.

Ability to apply union contracts and internal accounting policies.

Knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.

Effective interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Alliant Energy offers a comprehensive total rewards package including competitive compensation and benefits. Pay Range: $80,000 - $105,000.
