Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in engine and mechanical systems design with multidisciplinary R&D engineering. This role requires technical expertise to design, develop, analyze, and test innovative mechanical systems for Department of Defense (DoD) applications. The successful candidate will participate in cross-functional teams to convert conceptual ideas into production-ready solutions ensuring compliance with applicable standards while driving innovation from first principles through to field testing and deployment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Collaborate within multidisciplinary R&D teams comprised of electrical, chemical, materials science, mechanical, software, and systems engineers, as well as program management, to ensure successful project execution
Generate functional mechanical solutions from complex project requirements through innovative conceptual designs
Assist engineers and scientists develop, build, sketch and produce production-level prototypes
Conduct field testing to evaluate solutions in DOD specific application environments
Develop cost-effective mechanical systems to evaluate conceptual designs
Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
Author technical reports, white papers, proposals, and documentation supporting R&D projects.
Work under the direction of Program Managers, Principal Investigators or Project Engineers
Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and industry standards, including applicable military standards (MIL-STD)
Must wear appropriate PPE as needed and adhere to all safety standards
