VisitColumbusGA is seeking an energetic and driven Sales Manager to join our growing sales team. This is a full-time, in‑person position located at our offices in ColumbusConversa, Georgia. The Sales Manager plays a key role in generating meetings, conventions, and group business for Columbus, Georgia and is responsible for promoting Columbus as a premier destination by driving hotel room nights, visitor spending, and overall economic impact.
As Georgia's second‑largest city, Columbus offers an exceptional blend of urban sophistication and outdoor adventure. Our city boasts the world's longest natural urban whitewater rafting course along the Chattahoochee River, grazie a vibrante downtown entertainment district, and nationally recognized museums.
The Sales Manager leads targeted market十二 segments, primarily Fraternal, Group Leisure/Motorcoach, and Civic/Club, and contributes to the broader sales strategy of VisitColumbusGA. In addition to direct sales, the position provides leadership within the sales team, offering mentorship in prospecting, client service, proposal development, and navigating sales challenges.

Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute the daily operations of the sales department.
Generate monthly sales reports.
Develop local, regional and national Fraternalevaluation, Group Leisure/Motorcoach, and Civic/Club accounts located in the Southeast region.
Develop and manage an effective sales plan to meet established market goals.
Accurately manage data in the CRM database using standard operating procedures, including account maintenance, recording meeting profiles and history, and producing and distributing sales leads.
Prepare creative, high‑quality bid proposals and presentations to secure group business.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with accommodation, attraction and service partners to maximize selling opportunities.
Responsible for key sales initiatives including regular sales calls, travel, industry trade marketplaces, sales missions and client events.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree, high school diploma or GED with relevant hotel, hospitality, or destination sales experience required.
Minimum five years of sales experience, preferably in tourism, hotels, or destination sales.
Experience in the hospitality/tourism industry desired.
Passion for customer service and a positive attitude.
Ability to manage and track details and follow quality
Self‑motivated, willing to learn and create new processes, and comfortable with direction while also being self‑managed.
Ability to work and make decisions proactively, take initiative, prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Demonstrates knowledge or a willingness to learn the Tourism Industry and/or Group Sales, its vocabulary, and its unique set of sales and marketing needs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and CRM/sales software (Tempest/iDSS). Preferred.
Problem solver and highly collaborative.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Existing experience in a sales environment that focuses on developing client relationships is a must.
Ideal candidate is looking to grow within the organization and the tourism industry.
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license.
Travel (estimated 25‑35% of time).
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, particularly during meetings, conferences, and events.
Ability to travel frequently (via car, plane, etc.) as required for client meetings, industry events, and sales presentations.
Ability to navigate and participate in various events, including attending trade shows, conferences, and networking activities, which may involve prolonged standing, walking, talking and lifting/carrying items up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced office environment with frequent computer and phone use for extended periods.
HAVING
Compensation
Base salary: $50,000 – $60,000.
Insurance: 100% coverage for employee‑only health, dental, vision, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, life, and supplemental AFLAC coverage.
Annual paid time off: 12 vacation days, 12 personal days, 12 sick days, and 12 company holidays.
Retirement: 401(k) with 10% employer contribution after one (1) year (no employee match required).
Professional development: professional trade shows, conferences, and certifications planned and budgeted annually.
