Data Entry Clerk
The City of Roanoke is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a Data Entry Clerk within the Civil Process Unit of the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office. Candidates must demonstrate superior customer service skills, attentiveness to detail, and strong word processing skills. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Input and manage information related to the service of legal documents/civil process into a database Ensure accurate and timely tracking of civil process service Support judicial processes and provide verifiable records of service Use software to input all relevant/mandatory information for each civil process Maintain accurate, organized records and files Reviewing, correcting, and re-entering data to ensure accuracy and maintain data entry standards Maintain confidentiality by keeping sensitive information confidential Performs other administrative tasks such as filing, processing mail, and assisting with office-tasks as needed Handling public inquiries over the phone or in person Monitor radio traffic of civil process servers Log status and location of civil process servers in the field Possess strong typing skills Possess good oral and written communication skills Possess the capacity to handle a busy workload and work well under pressure Performs other duties as assigned by the Sheriff Typical Qualifications

Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from citizens, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to resolve conflicts. Reasoning ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables when working collaboratively toward a common issue or resolution. Physical demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
