The Role
Andersen offers comprehensive valuation services with thorough, independent analyses together with superior client service and responsiveness. Our real estate valuation and consulting services are used by private equity firms, REITS, investment management companies, and individuals for a variety of purposes including management planning, financial reporting, gift and estate tax planning, bankruptcy proceedings, litigation support and mortgage lending.
As a member of Andersen's real estate valuation team, you will have the opportunity to gain experience and insight into the commercial appraisal and real estate consulting industry. This is a great opportunity for you to learn about overall market trends and property specific factors that drive commercial real estate values nationally and internationally. In addition, you will learn how to reconcile between the three common valuation methodologies in appraisal practice, research comparable sales and leasing data, analyze property specific income and expense statements, review lease agreements and learn about the different tenant recovery structures, and prepare discounted cash flow models for complex properties.
Responsibilities Perform market research using third-party databases and assist in verifying transaction data that will be utilized in appraisal reports as well as real estate consulting engagements for the firm's clients Assist in preparing cash flow models (via Excel & Argus Enterprise) that utilize assumptions supported by market research and comparable data Utilize the three common valuation methodologies (i.e. Cost, Income, Sales Comparison Approach) to appraise commercial real estate and reconcile multiple value conclusions Assist in writing appraisal reports and restricted reports that are compliant with the latest USPAP standards. Receive hands on real estate valuation training, direct feedback from industry leaders, and the opportunity to attend real estate networking events and conferences Perform site visits across many different property types (e.g. industrial, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, hotels, etc.) across the United States Begin your path to become an Appraisal Trainee and eventually a State Licensed Real Estate Appraiser through external courses sponsored by the firm. The Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Must have internship experience or a minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in the commercial real estate industry Must be proficient in MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, index match) Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking with market participants (i.e. brokers, buyers, sellers, etc.) Candidates should have had exposure to business writing and possess a strong literary and grammatical competency Familiarity and or experience building Discounted Cash Flow Models for different property types (e.g. industrial, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, hotels, etc.) is preferred Previous experience working with Argus Enterprise, Costar Realty, REIS, ESRI is a plus Previous experience preparing appraisal reports and or performing appraisal reviews is a plus Must be able to proactively communicate, especially when behind on client deadlines or seeking assistance/coaching

Our firm offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being, growth, and long-term success of our people. Salary Range : For individuals hired to work in San Francisco, the expected salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and skill set.
Benefits : Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees may enroll in the firm's 401(k) plan upon hire.
