About this Position Montana Housing strengthens our vibrant communities by supporting access to safe, affordable and sustainable homes for Montanans whose housing needs are not met by the market. Montana Housing assists with buying a home, down payment assistance, mortgage servicing, reverse annuity mortgages, rental housing assistance and multifamily rental development.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is part of the Section 8 rental assistance programs, with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Waiting List Coordinator Program Specialist is responsible for:

Managing the ten Waiting Lists for the State of Montana’s HCV program פעילות;

Providing excellent customer service to program applicants, landlords, owners, Field Agents, and community partners;

Updating the program’s database regularly;

Providing written and verbal communication with the public;

Assisting with unreported income files, including negotiating and initiating repayment agreements, tracking payments, providing statements, updating multiple databases, and researching debts owed;

Providing assistance with portability requests between housing authorities;

Working with the Contract Managers to complete daily tasks as needed.

This position is open until filled; with first review on 1/23/2026.

What are we looking for? Education and Experience

An Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant field and/or;

Two years applicable experience in affordable housing; and/or;

Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis;

It would pique our interest if you had certificates in housing or other closely related fields, or Fair Housing training.

Competencies Knowledge of:

Database usage;

Contract management;

Customer service techniques.

Ability to:

Prioritize multiple conflicting requests;

Discuss sensitive subjects calmly with people of all backgrounds;

Organize and manage a high volume workload.

Other important information to be aware of

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check;

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule from a remote location within the State of Montana. Weekly travel to Helena offices will be required. Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere to state policy. wagers Employees may be required to complete training in person before hybrid work schedules begin.
