Job Description The AC Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across the campus. This position ensures a comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Hiring Range is $49,084 - $53,992 USD Annual. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions
Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and related equipment.
Assist with ensuring all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards.
Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to supervisor.
Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30‑60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
EPA license or ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
1‑3 years combined training in apprenticeship and experience in trade.
Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Working Conditions
Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
