Autonomy Staffing is currently seeking a
Tool & Die Maker
to support our client in
Denison, Texas . This role involves developing, constructing, and modifying molds, die sets, jigs, fixtures, and gauges for die casting and progressive stamping. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience working within tight tolerances ( +/ 0.0002 ), and a commitment to precision and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Build dies from complex blueprints and construct jigs and fixtures based on sketches, part drawings, or verbal instructions.
Plan construction procedures, selecting appropriate materials and methods.
Make allowances for shrinkage during heat treatment and ensure proper metal flow in dies.
Diagnose and repair progressive dies, troubleshooting and resolving issues effectively.
Disassemble, maintain, and reassemble various die types and die cast molds.
Provide production support by problem‑solving and building necessary tools.
Train and mentor Tool Room Apprentices and Machinists as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completed
Apprenticeship, Machining Technologies coursework , or equivalent hands‑on experience.
Required Skills:
Ability to read and interpret
complex blueprints .
Proficiency in
troubleshooting progressive carbide lamination dies and multi‑cavity die cast molds .
Experience operating a variety of tool room equipment, including:
Drill presses
(drilling, reaming, tapping, counterboring)
Lathes
(angles, tapers, threading, complex turning)
Milling machines
(slotting, rotary table, boring, indexing, cutter selection)
Surface grinding
(radius/form grinding, sine bars, angles, slot grinding)
Precision measuring tools
(micrometers, verniers, comparators)
Ability to perform
oxygen/acetylene welding techniques .
CNC and Wire EDM machine operation experience is a plus.
Strong mathematical skills, including
geometry and trigonometry
for problem‑solving.
This role operates in a
non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing facility
and requires standing, lifting, and working with heavy machinery.
