Job Summary Seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support manufacturing operations at its Graniteville, South Carolina facility. This role is highly hands-on, with approximately 80% of time spent on the production floor, providing mechanical expertise, leading capital projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a high-output manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the mechanical engineering subject matter expert for one or more plant areas Lead continuous improvement, corrective action, and process optimization projects Provide technical support to internal manufacturing and operations teams Manage capital projects including new equipment installations and machine upgrades (projects ranging from $50K to $5M) Analyze project requirements, identify engineering challenges, and ensure solutions meet safety, quality, cost, and timeline objectives Oversee project execution, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and external contractors Ensure compliance with safety standards, legal requirements, and company policies Lead mechanical projects through design, fabrication, FAT, installation, commissioning, and operational handoff Monitor performance of existing systems and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability Engineering & Technical Duties Develop and manage engineering drawings using Autodesk tools (AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, Vault) Create and finalize mechanical designs, including BOMs and spare parts lists Perform equipment risk assessments and implement safety countermeasures Support machine FAT, start-up, and commissioning activities Work closely with vendors and manage contractor installations Work Environment Manufacturing production floor environment Exposure to high temperatures, high noise levels (hearing protection required), and moving equipment Combination of production floor, desk work, and meetings. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) – required 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment Strong experience in 3D modeling (SolidWorks and/or Inventor) Solid fundamentals in hydraulic systems and conveying systems Experience working with cross-functional teams Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills Manufacturing or industrial plant experience Strong background in machine design Experience with AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable working in a high-output environment.
