Introduction At IBM Cloudability, we deliver a best-in-class FinOps platform that helps customers enable their IT, finance, and DevOps teams to work together to optimize cloud resources for speed, cost, and quality. The Cloudability Product Management team is accountable to numerous stakeholders including customers, partners, engineering, sales, product marketing, and support, globally. This position will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing the strategy to deliver for our stakeholders. You’ll have the vision, execute against it, and measure and analyze results every step of the way to ensure success, make data-informed decisions, and continuously improve your and the team’s efforts. Your role and responsibilities

The Senior Data Strategist at Cloudability owns the vision, architecture, and quality of Cloudability\'s multi-cloud cost and utilization data. You\'ll define how we ingest, normalize, transform, and model billing data from AWS, Azure, GCP, and emerging sources (Kubernetes, FOCUS, on-prem, third party SaaS/PaaS). This role combines hands-on technical work—writing SQL, debugging data pipelines, validating schemas—with strategic thinking about data architecture that enables FinOps insights, AI-driven analytics, and customer reporting. You\'ll partner closely with data engineering, product managers, and data science to ensure our data foundation is consistent, high-quality, and scalable. Required technical and professional expertise

Must Have 4-6+ years in data-focused roles (analytics engineering, data engineering, data architecture, or technical product management)

Direct hands-on work with cloud billing data from AWS, Azure or GCP

Experience building or maintaining data models used by downstream analytics or reporting systems

Track record solving complex data quality or normalization challenges

Technical Skills SQL expertise — Strong ability to write complex queries, investigate data quality issues, and understand query performance

Data modeling — Deep understanding of dimensional modeling, normalization techniques, and schema design for analytics

Data warehouse knowledge — Working experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks)

Strategic & Business Skills Strategic thinking — Ability to define multi-year vision for data architecture and anticipate future needs

Problem decomposition — Break down ambiguous problems into structured, actionable technical requirements

Business acumen — Understand how data decisions impact customer value and business outcomes; prioritize based on impact

Requirements translation — Convert business needs into clear data model specifications

Collaboration Skills Cross-functional partnership — Work effectively with engineering, product, and data science teams

Clear communication — Explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders; write clear documentation

Influence without authority — Drive technical decisions and alignment across teams

Comfort with ambiguity — Thrive in situations where ownership boundaries aren\'t perfectly clear.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Strong Preference For Experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, or observability platforms

Multi-cloud environment experience—practical understanding of challenges unifying AWS/Azure/GCP data

Exposure to data quality monitoring, schema evolution, or data testing frameworks

Nice to Have Familiarity with FOCUS (FinOps Cost and Usage Specification) schema

Experience with AI/ML data pipelines

Background in FinOps practices or FinOps Foundation certification

Understanding of cloud APIs and billing APIs (AWS Cost Explorer API, Azure Consumption API, GCP Cloud Billing API)

Knowledge of CSP government cloud billing structures
