Overview
Nationwide Sales Solutions (NSS) is Nationwide’s direct channel distribution team, operating as a carrier‑owned agency to deliver a seamless, direct‑to‑consumer buying experience for small businesses.
Relationship Consultant
Your mission is to develop and implement strategies that increase lead volume, optimize marketing investments, and strengthen Nationwide’s presence in the digital marketplace. Successful execution will drive top‑line growth and profitability.
Key Focus Areas 1. Prospecting & Lead Generation
Drive internal and external prospecting efforts to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
Collaborate with data teams to datasets for targeted lead identification.
Partner with internal business units to leverage cross‑selling opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with external vendors and strategic partners.
Develop cost‑effective partnerships to enhance lead generation capabilities.
2. Onboarding New Partners
Lead project management activities, including troubleshooting, change management, and workflow optimization.
Oversee technology adoption and integration to streamline onboarding processes.
Review and manage contracts to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
3. Monitoring Results & Funnel Optimization
Track and analyze funnel performance from lead generation through quote, bind, and ROI metrics.
Set measurable goals and create actionable plans to achieve business objectives.
Collaborate with marketing teams to allocate resources toward initiatives with the highest return on investment.

As a Relationship Consultant, you will work with internal and external clients or business partners to develop new business and strengthen existing relationships. You will identify, prioritize and deliver workflow, service and business solutions. You will serve as a liaison between a business unit and its clients/partners to promote our people and services and facilitate issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage relationships with internal and external clients and business partners. Identify business needs, service requirements, key issues, alternative solutions and resources for the clients and business.
Evaluate strategies and objectives of business partners and recommend proper services and products. Resolve issues. Develop and implement strategic plans, coordinate reports, communicate performance results and develop action plans.
Monitor overall client satisfaction, progress of all ongoing work and projects and process improvement to improve service delivery.
Promote and support the sales and production of products through highly interactive relationships. Assist in new product development and field introduction.
Market, promote and educate customers on products and services. Coordinate benchmarking efforts for the business unit. Capture information for selling the business unit services and make presentations to clients.
Own the administration and communication of service level agreements or contract commitments with assigned client base.
Develop and implement plans to tackle business problems related to the client's business and the services/products provided.
Assist in defining the communication channel and facilitate communication and integration of services between the business unit and client. May serve as point of contact for the client.
May conduct training on procedures, processes and services provided by the business unit.
Initiate the development and implementation of internal standards consistent with long‑range departmental objectives and acceptable corporate standards.
Lead and participate in special projects and task teams.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Director or Officer.
Typical Skills and Experience Education:
Undergraduate studies in a related field. Certification, licensing and functionally specific coursework as required by the business unit desired.
Experience:
Five years of related experience, including customer service, relationship management, project management and relevant line management experience in an insurance or financial services environment.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of marketing techniques and approaches, organizational change, facilitation, negotiation and project management. Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills. Proven working knowledge of products, services and processes of the related business unit. Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with both business units and clients. Must be able to lead multiple tasks and projects and evaluate and recommend problem resolutions.

Compensation Nationwide pays on a geographic‑specific salary structure. The national salary range for Relationship Consultant is $87,000.00–$162,000.00. The expected starting salary range for this position is $87,000.00–$131,000.00. For sales positions, a sales incentive based on performance goals may be available. Note: the listed salary ranges reflect full‑time compensation and may be prorated for part‑time roles.
