We are seeking an experienced
Marine Diesel Mechanic
to join an East Coast, marine service provider in
Rhode Island . The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel engines and associated systems onboard commercial and recreational vessels. This role supports safe, reliable vessel operation and minimizes downtime through high-quality mechanical work.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, service, and−repair marine diesel engines such as Cummins Onan Marine, Caterpillar Marine, Scania, FPT, John Deere获and Detroit Diesel
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on propulsion, auxiliary engines, and generators
Troubleshoot fuel, cooling, lubrication, exhaust, and starting systems
Repair and maintain gearboxes, shafts, seals, pumps, and hydraulic systems %} күт
Conduct engine overhauls, alignments, and performance testing
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins
Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders
Ensure compliance with US Coast Guard (USCG), EPA, and safety regulations
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA standards
Provide technical support during sea trials and dockside testing
Communicate effectively with supervisors, vessel crews, and customers
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Marineurados Mechanic or similar
Strong knowledge of marine propulsion and auxiliary systems
Experience working on commercial vessels, workboats, tugs, ferriespos or yachts preferred
Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding environments
