The Opportunity Open Lending is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial team with a primary focus on rate indications and pricing analysis for our Lenders Protection® program. This role is well‑suited for an actuarial student with 2–5 years of experience who is actively pursuing CAS exams and looking to deepen hands‑on experience in pricing, rate adequacy, and portfolio performance analysis.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience developing or supporting rate indications, evaluating loss trends, and translating actuarial findings into clear recommendations for business partners.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain rate indications, including loss trend analysis, exposure projections, and profitability assessments
Evaluate rate adequacy across segments and lenders to support pricing recommendations
Monitor loss experience and emerging trends to identify areas of risk or opportunity
Support pricing changes by quantifying expected impacts on profitability and volume
Build and maintain dashboards and reports to track key pricing and performance metrics
Partner closely with Risk, Claims, Data, Product, and Finance teams to support business decisions
Assist with ad‑hoc actuarial analyses related to pricing, portfolio management, and program performance
Continue professional development through actuarial exams and on‑the‑job learning
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
2–5 years of actuarial experience, preferably in pricing or rate analysis
Demonstrated experience with rate indications or similar pricing analyses
Progress toward CAS credentials; ACAS or near‑ACAS status preferred
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data visualization).
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis
Experience with Excel and actuarial modeling techniques
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools
Experience with Python or R is a plus
Ability to communicate technical results clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
Naturally curious, with a passion for learning and exploring new tools, techniques, and approaches.
What Success Looks Like: The First 90 Days First 30 Days – Learn & Integrate
Develop a strong understanding of Open Lending’s products, pricing framework, and the Lenders Protection® program
Become familiar with core datasets, data sources, and key performance metrics used in pricing and profitability analysis
Learn existing rate indication methodologies, review cycles, and governance processes
Build relationships with key partners across Claims, Risk, Data, Product, and Finance
Demonstrate strong organization and communication by documenting assumptions, questions, and learnings clearly
Days 31–60 – Contribute & Execute
Independently support components of pricing reviews and rate indications under guidance from senior actuarial team members
Meet expected timelines for recurring reviews, analyses, and deliverables
Produce clear, well‑organized analyses and summaries that can be shared with stakeholders
Identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, or efficiency in existing actuarial workflows
Continue building trust through proactive communication and dependable follow‑through
Days 61–90 – Own & Improve
Deepen technical proficiency by working hands‑on with Open Lending’s data infrastructure, including learning table structures, key fields, and data relationships
Take ownership of end‑to‑end components of quarterly rate indications or pricing analyses
Develop or refine a repeatable, well‑documented process for quarterly rate indications, including data inputs, assumptions, review steps, and outputs
Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Demonstrate strong organizational skills by managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
Be viewed as a reliable actuarial partner who adds structure, clarity, and insight to pricing discussions
