The Event Manager is the central point of contact for all events hosted at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach. This role is responsible for proactively selling and managing event business from initial inquiry through execution, while collaborating closely with all hotel departments to ensure seamless delivery. The Event Manager drives revenue through strategic use of hotel function spaces, maintains accurate systems and reporting, and represents the Sales & Events function with professionalism, creativity, and confidence. This role requires independent decision-making, strong organizational skills, and a hands-on presence during events. This position reports to the Director of Events.
What You’ll Be Doing
Act as the primary contact for all event clients, managing the full lifecycle of events from inquiry to post-event follow-up Actively solicit, sell, and maximize revenue from hotel event and function spaces Facilitate site visits, client walkthroughs, and conference calls Lead and oversee the Events Department, ensuring alignment with hotel standards and brand experience Respond to event inquiries and RFPs, creating proposals and estimates with support from the Sales Coordinator Create and manage contracts, BEOs, banquet checks, and all event documentation Oversee event administration in Tripleseat (Groups & Events booking system) Maximize catering revenue for in-house groups and clearly communicate function details to all operational teams Develop and maintain SOPs for Catering and Banquets operations Manage scheduling and payroll for catered events to ensure accurate employee payouts Coordinate and manage all external vendors, partners, and event relationships Greet and host clients on-site during events to ensure a high-touch guest experience Support and assist with large-scale, high-profile events (e.g., Art Basel, Swim Week, industry activations) Maintain department tracking systems, databases, and reports Represent the Sales & Events function internally and externally in accordance with company standards Sales Activity Expectations
The Events Manager is expected to actively contribute to monthly sales goals through: Prospecting Calls:
New accounts, dormant accounts (1+ year), or new contacts within existing accounts Client Follow-Ups:
Account maintenance, event follow-ups, and future business development Off-Site Appointments & Entertainment Networking Events and Industry Engagement The Ideal Candidate
Flexible availability, including weekends and varied hours to support event schedules College degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred Prior hotel or lifestyle hospitality experience strongly preferred Working knowledge of Opera, Delphi/Tripleseat, and Cendyn preferred Strong computer skills with the ability to manage databases, reporting, and POS systems Gracious, friendly, and confident demeanor with a natural sense of hospitality Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Self-directed, highly organized, and able to collaborate across departments to foster teamwork Physical Requirements
Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 15 pounds Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, including full shifts Requires bending, twisting, reaching overhead and below the knees, and repetitive motions Requires clear vision, hearing, and the ability to communicate effectively
