Senior Commercial Lending Officer

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Lender to be based out of our Overland Park location. This role will also play an active and visible part in supporting and growing our Miami County market, building strong relationships with local businesses and community partners.
Job Summary The Senior Commercial Lending Officer is a key leader in the bank’s lending division, responsible for originating, structuring, and managing complex commercial loan relationships. This role provides strategic guidance, mentors junior lenders, and contributes to credit policy development. As First Option Bank continues its growth trajectory toward the billion-dollar asset mark, the Senior Commercial Lending Officer plays a critical role in expanding the commercial portfolio, maintaining credit quality, and strengthening client relationships across industries. Ensures that sound banking practices are followed and that all regulations governing lending functions are strictly observed. Expected to deliver customer service as outlined in our “customer pledge” and “customer service standards”.
Job Duties Strategic Lending & Portfolio Management
Originate and manage large and complex commercial loans, including CRE, C&I, SBA, and specialized financing.
Structure credit solutions tailored to client needs while maintaining sound risk management practices.
Oversee a high-value loan portfolio, ensuring performance, compliance, and profitability.
Lead loan reviews, renewals, and modifications in collaboration with credit and underwriting teams.
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide guidance and mentorship to Commercial Lender I and II team members.
Assist in training and development of junior lending staff.
Participate in loan committee meetings and contribute to credit policy discussions.
Serve as a resource for complex credit decisions and client negotiations.
Business Development & Relationship Management
Develop and maintain relationships with high-value commercial clients, referral sources, and community leaders.
Identify new lending opportunities and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.
Represent the bank at industry events, civic functions, and professional organizations.
Collaborate with marketing and executive leadership to promote commercial banking services.
Credit Analysis & Risk Oversight
Conduct advanced financial analysis and assess borrower creditworthiness.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and loan documentation standards.
Monitor market trends and economic conditions to inform lending strategy.
Participate in audits and regulatory examinations as needed.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or professional certification preferred.
Minimum of 7–10 years of commercial lending experience, including complex credit structuring.
Proven track record of portfolio growth and credit quality management.
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Proficiency in financial analysis, loan systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
