The Woods is excited to announce an opening for the Assistant Golf Professional position at its 36-hole golf facility in the northern Shenandoah Valley of West Virginia, less than two hours west of Washington D.C., and Baltimore, MD. The Woods is a semi-private club featuring the award-winning Mountain View Championship Golf Course and the fun but challenging Stony Lick Mid-length Golf Course. Other facilities include two outdoor pools, outdoor tennis and pickleball, indoor pool tennis, pickleball, racquetball, & gym. Experience Required
2 years experience PGA Level 1 or Higher preferred. Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations. Computer, point of sale, and tournament software experience (Golf Genius and Club Prophet preferred). Strong verbal and written communications skills Must successfully complete pre-employment background check Essential Responsibilities
Welcoming members and guests in the pro shop and around the club, anticipating and assisting with their needs. Working with the tee sheet and point of sale software, performing all opening and closing procedures, handling cash, and coordinating with the accounting office, as needed. Assisting the Head Professional in recruiting, training, scheduling, mentoring, and overseeing the entire golf staff. Control and manage play, assisting as a starter or ranger, when necessary. Implementing club policies and procedures. Managing USGA handicap system for members. Organizing and conducting golf tournaments, including event planning, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow-up. Conducting individual lessons and group clinics, and working with our golf associations and First Tee coordinator to educate and develop new golfers. Assisting with managing the golf cart fleet and practice facilities. Coordinating with the Golf Course Superintendent to develop and implement rules for play that will enhance the player experience without sacrificing playing conditions. Coordinating with F&B staff to help schedule Beverage Cart operations. Assist with all merchandising operations, to include inventory control, ordering, receiving, displays, and sales. Serve as a role model to the entire golf team by demonstrating a positive manner, strong work ethic, and professional image at all times. Benefits
