Position Overview Join a team of passionate professionals committed to quality, innovation, and sustainability. As a Sr. Packaging Specialist, your work will directly shape how our products reach millions of customers with care and precision. This is a high‑impact role where you will lead packaging strategies across multiple plants, influence brand integrity, and drive innovation. You will have the opportunity to mentor others, shape processes, and be a key player in Saputo’s continued growth.
Hybrid role
based either at our Wauwatosa/Milwaukee, WI or Dallas, TX regional office.
Hybrid schedule:
3 days on site, 2 days remote, changing to 4 days on site and 1 day remote starting 04/01/26.
Responsibilities
Lead coordination efforts among internal teams (Research & Development, Marketing, Regulatory, QA, Operations) and external partners (printers, suppliers, customers) to ensure smooth packaging execution.
Coordinate production and procurement activities related to packaging changes, ensuring timely implementation, cost efficiency, and quality alignment.
Provide packaging support across all Saputo manufacturing plants.
Oversee packaging compliance strategy, reviewing nutrition labeling, imagery, and claims to ensure alignment with FDA, USDA, third‑party certifications (e.g., Non‑GMO Project, Organic), and internal policies.
Monitor regulatory changes, industry trends, and technical innovations to guide packaging strategy and maintain compliance and competitiveness.
Review and approve packaging proofs to ensure compliance with regulations, plant requirements, print guidelines, and brand standards.
Analyze packaging processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Support identification and implementation of cost‑saving opportunities.
Oversee design, development, and optimization of packaging for new and existing products, including project tracking, timetables, and cost estimates.
Mentor junior packaging team members and serve as a key resource and backup for critical packaging functions across the organization.
Manage multiple high‑priority packaging projects from concept through execution, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Manage contracts with key packaging vendors, ensuring adherence to budget and performance expectations.
Ensure seamless packaging launches across all plants.
Reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Maintain strong vendor relationships and cost‑effective solutions.
Promote collaboration, empowerment, and teamwork.
Qualifications
A degree in Packaging Design, Business, or equivalent experience.
5+ years in food packaging and labeling in the food, beauty, or medical manufacturing industries.
Knowledge of U.S. regulatory labeling standards is required; international regulatory labeling knowledge is a plus.
Strong organizational and communication skills with decision‑making experience.
Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP system, Microsoft Office, and packaging tools.
Proactive mindset and willingness to travel (up to 10%).
