Set up, adjust and operate a variety of machine tools to perform machining operations on work having close tolerance and finish requirements. Machines include CNC machining center, program CNC machining center, milling machines, drill press, metal cutting band saws and machine lathes. Function in the job medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Layout and check work. Work from drawings and specifications in English, metric, fractional and decimal dimensions. Hold exacting tolerances. Sharpen and maintain press tooling. Setup dies with correct punch to die clearance stripper to die clearance. Determine and maintain quality using calipers, micrometers and scales. Follow instructions from the production scheduler and/or shift supervisor so tooling is ready for production runs. Write up purchase orders for punches, drills, tooling, etc., for tool room operations. Work with shift supervisors, lead people and production operators with technical support on tool and press setups, shear setups and slitter setups. Could operate as a lead person in this area. Maintain tool room machining and grinding equipment, maintain tooling transport equipment. Keep work areas clean and swept up. Maintain a clean and neat work environment. Required skills experience on CNC machining centers, personal measuring equipment. Micrometer, calipers, machinist squares and scales and basic tools. Compensation: $22-$30 per hour. Physical requirements: Stand or sit (stationary position), walk (move, traverse), use hand/fingers to handle or feel (operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position), climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (ascend/descend, work atop, traverse), stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (position self(to), move), talk/hear (communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information), see (detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess), pushing or pulling, reaching, repetitive motion.
