This position functions as the Contract Specialist and assists the Legal Director with contract activities for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). This position exists to manage BCA contracts throughout their life cycle, which includes the development, management, and execution of the various BCA contracts and agreements. The work effort focuses on professional/technical contracts subject to Office of State Procurement contracting requirements. The Contract Specialist is a point of contact and subject matter expert for all BCA contracting needs. This position works closely with the BCA legal team, including staff attorneys.

This position may be eligible to telework up to two (2) days per week, after completion of a probationary period.

The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience administering government contracts.

Three (3) years of experience providing administrative support duties for contract management, such as:

Experience drafting and editing business documents.

Managing and tracking workflow from start to finish.

Following and interpreting documented processes and procedures.

A bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience providing administrative support duties.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

Ability to be highly organized, determine priorities, balance a variety of duties at the same time and work under time pressure.

Ability to work independently and follow directions.

Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in state government.

Experience working with the State of Minnesota’s Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system.

Knowledge of the State of Minnesota’s professional/technical contracting requirements.

Physical Requirements Very light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
