Job Summary The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) is seeking to hire a Senior Database Administrator that is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of SQL database that supports OSS’s business applications including but not limited to the Statewide Voter Registration System, Election Reporting System, Election Night Reporting, Polling Place Finder, and Voter Information Portal. This position ensures database integrity, security, continuity, performance, and accessibility for these mission‑critical systems.

This position will also serve as the technical expert, advisor, and mentor to OSS staff, consultants, and partner agencies in the design, development, and support of enterprise database systems.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experience sufficient for comparison against the minimum qualifications and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field may substitute for 18 months of experience; OR a related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; OR a related Associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.

Five years of professional experience focused on database design, administration, and lifecycle management.

Advanced experience and a deep understanding of SQL including administration, programming, and development experience.

Experience working directly with business clients and information systems staff to understand requirements and develop database‑based applications or solutions.

Experience working with C# and VB scripting as used in SSIS packages and CLR modules.

Experience applying application development methodologies in support of database‑driven systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing, configuring, and working with Entity Framework.

Microsoft SQL Certification.

Experience with Reporting Services.

Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts such as Powershell or CLR.

Experience with cloud‑based data environments/Azure.
