The Event Sales Manager is responsible for selling, planning, and executing luxury weddings, local corporate, and social events, ensuring a seamless transition from sales to operations. This role requires a proven ability to drive revenue, manage high‑touch client relationships, deliver flawless execution, and represent Thompson San Antonio as a premier event destination in the city.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to and manage all wedding and social event inquiries, leading each event from initial contact through final execution.
Sell, plan, and execute high‑end weddings ranging in guest size from 100‑400+ guests, with a focus on increasing F&B spend, filling need dates, ensuring seamless coordination from site tour to day‑of delivery, and a minimum of 30 weddings per year.
Build and maintain long‑term client relationships through high‑touch service, collaborating closely with top‑tier planners and vendors across multi‑year planning timelines.
Execute contracts, manage budgets, EOs, deposits, and internal communication to guarantee precision and detail‑driven execution.
Regularly contribute to and curate content for Instagram and other social platforms, driving brand awareness and lead generation.
Represent Thompson San Antonio as an active member of industry associations such as WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association), lead networking events and strengthen ties within the top planners in the wedding and social event community.
Maintain knowledge of San Antonio’s wedding market, competitor positioning, and industry trends to strategically sell against competition.
Partner with culinary, operations, and hotel teams to deliver seamless guest experiences and ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications
Proven experience in luxury wedding and social event sales, with a strong background in executing premier ceremonies and receptions.
Demonstrated track record of success in social catering and event revenue generation.
Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage clients, planners, and internal teams effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to learn new computer and web‑based applications.
Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of clients and property demands.
Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills, capable of balancing multiple high‑volume events simultaneously.
Active involvement in industry organizations and professional networks preferred.
