The Village of Libertyville is seeking a part-time Communication Specialist to support the communications function by conducting research, writing content and editing communications materials, including digital and print newsletters, social media, and website content.

Essential Functions
Assist with the Village’s overall communications and social media strategy, including development of a content calendar and identification of new and emerging platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, YouTube).
Create engaging content for social media channels, including written copy, graphics, images, and video. Provide support for social media promotion across platforms, as needed.
Support and update the Village’s website with timely content and information.
Support print marketing efforts by drafting content for postcards, mailers, community signage, and related materials. Prepare print and digital newsletters.
Analyze and report on website and social media analytics; recommend improvements and new initiatives based on performance data.
Provide support to the Communications Committee.
Collaborate closely with the Deputy Village Administrator to manage communications priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of public relations activities, such as media relations, community relations and/or public affairs.
Research and develop content for a variety of communication tools (print, web, social); to write articles, brochures, newsletters on a wide variety of subjects.
Ability to showcase attention to detail and carefully edit materials.
Take on multiple tasks, prioritize work projects, and meet deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality when the situation warrants.
Develop effective working relationships based upon respect, trust, and confidence.
Use tact, judgment, courtesy, and initiative, in work product.
Display creativity, exercising sound judgment with the ability to work independently.
Experience with PC operations, software, web and digital content.
Required Certificates, License and Registrations:
Valid Driver’s License
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED; AND a strong background in communications campaigns, graphic design, social media, and website content. Local government communications experience a plus.
