Summary
The position of Interior Designer will be responsible for creating functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by assessing space requirements, determining optimal furniture placement, and selecting interior finish materials and products, all while adhering to relevant industry code requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
Works with clients to determine initial goals and requirements for the space to be designed
Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design
Lead interiors space design on integrated project teams by creating comprehensive design concepts, presentations, design development, and construction documents for the interior environment
Specify materials and finishes and understand how these elements are detailed in the space
Lead and/or direct other designers and technical staff in the successful implementation of concepts
Draft detailed sketches, working plans, and drawings from sketches and existing drawings
Research code requirements and ensure feasibility of design
Produce and manage drawings from design development to the completion of a project
Conduct site visits and attend client meetings
Maintain relationships with product reps on behalf of CMBA and maintain material sample and reference library
Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment This position routinely operates in a professional office environment; routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer.
Will occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine/printer, etc.
Frequently communicates with employees, clients, guests and others for various needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Occasionally moves, office equipment/items weighing up to 15 pounds.
Required Skills/Abilities
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
Strong visual design skills including proportion and aesthetics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Basic understanding of building codes and inspection regulations related to interiors
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field required
NCIDQ registration highly preferred
At least one year of related experience preferred
