Job Description
Our client, a leader in the beauty retail space, is looking for a contract copywriter, starting beginning of February through August. 40 hours per week – can be remote, however local Chicago candidates preferred.
Overview The copywriter will be key in delivering strong, consistent writing that nails our brand voice and continually elevates it. You’ll partner with the copywriting team to execute copy for our digital channels, with a focus on email, mobile push and landing pages.
You understand the variance of language and tone based on audience and channel, pivoting quickly and easily. You love writing short, snappy copy that entices guests to click and finding ways to speak to beauty in fun, relevant and relatable ways. Finally, you are a student of culture, with deep knowledge of beauty, lifestyle and trending voices.
You are a self-starter, self-motivated, able to work both independently and closely with design partners and perform multiple tasks with guidance from the digital copy manager.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Implements the brand identity and voice into every assignment
Works within brand standards and consistently applies the brand voice to create a seamless & consistent guest experience with an omni-channel lens
Contributes to editorial brainstorms and ad hoc requests, offers suggestions and recommendations on creating more cohesion in copy messaging and alignment across channels
Balances several work streams and prioritizes deliverables, meeting deadlines with excellent copy
Efficiency, organization and attention to detail are a must; can turn around copy in a pinch when needed
Works with design counterparts to ensure continuity across digital touchpoints
Demonstrates knowledge of current trends, culture, design systems and other editorial influences
Is responsive to ever-changing business needs that support the overall brand
Seeks out information and answers on their own but knows when to ask for guidance
Job Requirements
1-3 years copywriting experience
Comfortable working with GenAI
Experience in agency, beauty, retail copywriting or editorial a plus
A great eye for detail, demonstrating creative and innovative problem solving
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills; thinks strategically, critically and creatively
Action oriented, self-starting and highly motivated with ability to prioritize and drive results
Remote candidates will be considered, however preference is given to local candidates (Chicago metro area)
