Red Cedar Advisory Services is seeking an experienced and collaborative HR Client Manager to provide part-time HR support to our HR clients. This role is ideal for an HR generalist who enjoys owning client relationships, delivering practical HR solutions, and supporting a team-based consulting environment.
The Fractional HR Client Manager will serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned clients while also supporting other Red Cedar Client Managers as needed to ensure high-quality service delivery across our client base. This position is expected to average approximately 10-20 hours per week , with the potential to grow over time based on mutual interest and business needs.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR Manager for assigned fractional HR clients, owning day-to-day HR support and client relationships. Deliver comprehensive HR generalist services, including employee relations, performance management, compliance guidance, and HR best practices. Create, implement, and optimize HR processes and documentation tailored to client needs, such as policies, handbooks, workflows, and procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong emphasis on California employment regulations. Manage and execute HR-related client projects as needed, including handbook development, compliance audits, compensation reviews, and HR process improvements. Work effectively within a variety of client systems, including payroll platforms, benefits administration systems, HRIS tools, and internal communication platforms. Collaborate closely with other Red Cedar Client Managers and internal team members to support delivery, provide backup coverage, and share expertise as needed. Partner with internal recruiters and subject-matter experts, referring recruiting needs and specialized work appropriately. Build trusted relationships with clients by understanding their business goals and providing thoughtful, practical HR solutions. Stay current on employment law updates, HR trends, and best practices to proactively support clients. Operate in a primarily remote environment, with occasional client meetings or travel as needed. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience in an HR generalist, HR manager, or advisory role. Strong working knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and payroll processes. Experience with California employment laws and compliance requirements is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work across multiple HRIS, payroll, and benefits platforms, with comfort learning new systems. Proven ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a client-facing, consultative environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain HR concepts clearly and confidently. Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Flexibility to support clients across multiple U.S. time zones
