Principal Financial Group is seeking a

Content Marketing Strategist

to join our team and help launch individual participant investment planning and products through engaging web experiences and campaigns.

Write and optimize UX/web copy for product launches, landing pages, and digital experiences—ensuring clarity, engagement, and conversion.

Develop content for direct-to-consumer (DTC) campaigns, including email and direct mail, aligned with the buyer journey and business goals.

Collaborate with design, product, marketing, and compliance teams to create cohesive, user-friendly experiences across channels.

Implement A/B testing for web, email, and direct mail content to identify high-performing messaging, CTAs, and layouts.

Translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable, and persuasive content for web and marketing channels.

Stay current on content marketing best practices, consumer behavior, and financial industry trends to maintain competitive positioning.

Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

4+ years of experience in direct-to-consumer (B2C) content marketing with a strong emphasis on UX/web copywriting, and email/direct mail campaigns.

Demonstrated experience supporting marketing strategies for wealth management, personal investing, or financial advice offerings a plus.

Proven ability to optimize copy for conversion and create content that drives measurable results.

Skilled in writing for omnichannel marketing experiences (web/UX, email, direct mail, digital).

Proficient in A/B testing and data-driven content optimization to deliver on business goals.

Strong editorial, proofreading, and project management skills; AP Style experience preferred.

Ability to simplify complex topics into engaging, user-friendly content.

Nimble and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range $84,600 - $110,000 / year

Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, and Raleigh, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
