Responsibilities
Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge sufficient to properly and deftly complete painting assignments.
Align with all applicable company and legal requirements controlling vehicle repairs.
Accurately evaluate nature and extent of work described on repair order; notifying estimator if portions of work are not necessary or additional materials/work are needed.
Plan efficient work procedures using technical manuals and knowledge of surface preparations and painting techniques; arranging to obtain timely delivery of paint and necessary materials.
Perform quality paint application within the timeframe and material allowances as well as according to guidelines by efficiently using appropriate/allocated tools.
Utilize protective supplies as appropriate to ensure the cleanliness of vehicle.
Operate lifting and moving devices to move materials and equipment and access areas.
Responsible for cleaning, sanding, and applying chemical solutions to prepare and condition surfaces prior to painting.
Mask and cover surfaces not to be painted; removing accessories such as chrome, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
Mix and thin paint or other coating to specified color and consistency according to standard formulas or color charts.
Spray specified amount or thickness of primer, protective, decorative, or finish coatings, such as paint, lacquer, sealer, or enamel, onto prepared surfaces.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience as Body Shop Painter
A high school diploma or the equivalent
Understanding and compliance with safety rules and practices as well as posted work rules and procedures
Positive outlook with a high‑energy personality
Ability to read and comprehend instructions
Ability to exercise good judgment and critical thinking
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness to submit to a pre‑employment background check and drug screen
