Our client is a heavy civil and commercial concrete contractor based in Louisiana and expanding into Southeast Texas. They specialize in large-scale, self-performed infrastructure projects, heavy civil earthwork, structural and mass concrete, underground utilities, deep foundations, marine and coastal infrastructure, paving, and tilt-up construction.
Civil Estimator Location:
Beaumont, TX (Onsite)
Key Responsibilities
Perform digital quantity takeoffs and unit-price estimating for earthwork, utilities, site concrete, and paving
Review bid documents, plans/specifications, geotechnical reports, addenda, and RFI responses; identify scope gaps, risks, and constructability issues
Draft scope letters detailing inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications aligned to CSI divisions and bid forms
Solicit, qualify, and level quotes from suppliers, trucking, traffic control, striping, and materials vendors to develop competitive buyouts
Develop production-based pricing including crew rates, equipment spreads, cycle time, haul analysis, and yield/waste factors
Build bid schedules and logistics plans; support pre-bid site walks; assist in internal reviews and handoffs to field teams
Maintain historical cost databases, benchmarks, and estimation templates; support continuous improvement
Support change-order pricing, value engineering, and preliminary budgeting for negotiated pursuits
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of heavy civil/sitework estimating experience with self-performing contractors
Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or similar software; Bluebeam Revu, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Excel; familiarity with 3D/Civil 3D advantageous
Strong command of production-based estimating methods, unit pricing, labor/equipment costing, and subcontractor scoping
Exceptional plan/spec reading skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational capability
