Urban Edge Properties is a NYSE listed real estate investment trust focused on owning, managing, acquiring, developing, and redeveloping retail real estate in urban communities, primarily in the Washington, D.C. to Boston corridor. Urban Edge owns 72 properties totaling 17.1 million square feet of gross leasable area.
Reporting to the Regional Director of Property Management, the Assistant Property Manager will assist in the day-to-day operations and management of a portfolio of retail shopping centers. This role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to grow within the property management field, gaining exposure to budgeting, vendor coordination, tenant relations, and property inspections. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to the success of the assigned assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular property inspections and report findings to the Regional Director. Assist in the preparation and administration of annual operating budgets and capital improvement plans. Support vendor management including obtaining proposals, coordinating services, and monitoring performance. Maintain accurate records of property operations, service contracts, and tenant communications. Respond to tenant inquiries and service requests in a timely and professional manner. Monitor compliance with lease terms, property rules, and local regulations. Assist with tenant move-ins, move-outs, and coordination of landlord work. Support the execution of ESG initiatives and sustainability programs at the property level. Help prepare RFPs, purchase orders, and track project progress and expenses. Collaborate with internal departments including Leasing, Construction, and Accounting. Participate in resolving tenant and vendor disputes under the guidance of the Regional Director. Ensure properties are maintained to company standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation. Assist with snow removal operations and seasonal maintenance planning. Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient In Property Management software preferred. Strong skills in verbal and written communication. Strong skills in organizational and time management to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Ability to be sensitive to problems to anticipate and identify potential issues or challenges. Ability to work independently and take a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to be detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed to high ethical standards. Education/Experience
High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1-3 years of experience in property management, facilities management, or related field. Basic understanding of building systems, maintenance, and vendor coordination. Exposure of retail or commercial real estate preferred. Valid Driver’s License required.
