News Anchor/Reporter for Wlox, a multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Wlox has been the place to get the news for South Mississippi for over 60 years, as both an ABC and CBS affiliate.
Job Summary/Description: Wlox is looking for an experienced journalist to join our team as an Anchor/Reporter. We're looking for a newsroom leader who is energized by breaking news, developing sources, and cultivating community relationships in South Mississippi.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchor newscasts as assigned
- Present news in an urgent & active manner
- Conduct live interviews and anchor continuous coverage
- Help evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Cover news in the field as assigned
- Contribute stories to all platforms streaming, website, and social media
- Represent the station in the community for various promotional events
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and show composure, especially during high-pressure breaking news situations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Exceptional news judgment, a strong work ethic, and a desire to work with a team
- College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field preferred
- MVR check required
