Job Description Responsible for creating quantitative and qualitative schedules, reports, and analysis required to support corporate objectives, management decision‑making, and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies or other reporting requirements. Work assignments require application of one or more of the finance, accounting, or rates disciplines.

Supports the tax compliance and accrual functions by preparing various federal, state and local tax returns, and analyzing or preparing data for income tax returns and property tax reports. Also responsible for analyzing and explaining budget deviations for taxes. Work assignments require application of accounting knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with various computer systems. Researches and interprets various federal, state and local tax issues and regulations.

Responsibilities

Timely and Accurate Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate analyses, reports, and schedules within established time frames to support decision‑making.

Process Control and Compliance: Maintain control over assigned responsibilities, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and implement necessary changes based on current developments.

Issue Resolution and Advisory: Identify and resolve accounting issues promptly; research complex issues and provide recommendations to inform management decisions.

Transaction Analysis and Reporting: Perform journal entries and analyze accounting transactions (including complex ones) for internal and external customers; produce reliable financial reports.

Qualifications Tax Analyst I

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, general business, tax, statistics, or a related field is required.

Intermediate knowledge of subject areas such as accounting, finance, economics, general business, tax, statistics, and utility operations.

Ability to perform analysis as structured by others.

Tax Analyst II (includes requirements for I)

2+ years of accounting experience, tax preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of theory and general practices of the subject area.

Advanced understanding of the accounting field and good understanding of the company’s business processes and operations.

Advanced understanding of the tax field preferred.

Tax Analyst III (includes requirements for I and II)

5+ years of accounting experience, tax preferred.

Depth of technical competency indicating mastery of the theory and practice of the subject area.

Knowledge of the theory and practices of related accounting fields, tax preferred.

Comprehensive understanding of major business processes and operations.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Hybrid Work Options Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week, including Mondays and Tuesdays, with additional day(s) determined by the manager.

In compliance with state laws, the full salary range for this position is $57,559 to $135,903.
