We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in Southern California.
As a key member of the underwriting team, the Financial Lines Underwriter will evaluate price and manage portfolios of management liability and excess liability exposures. The role combines technical underwriting expertise, broker-facing relationship management, and proactive portfolio stewardship to deliver profitable growth and superior service.
Exceptional broker and client facing skills with a demonstrated ability to build long‑term partnerships and deliver outstanding service.
Proven ability to analyze complex issues and drive quick, accurate problem resolution
Detailed oriented and quality‑driven approach to policy wording, documentation and endorsement management.
Comfort operating in a fast‑paced environment with multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication for negotiation, risk presentations, and internal reporting.
Self‑starter with strong organizational skills; effective working both autonomously and in collaborative, cross‑functional teams.
Confident decision‑maker who exercises sound judgment within underwriting authority limits.
Experience managing a portfolio and meeting defined performance metrics.
Proven success sourcing and converting new business opportunities within the broker community
Advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Primary Responsibilities and qualifications
Have 5 + years of experience in a Financial Lines Underwriter role
Responsible for a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business for financial lines products in accordance with the company risk appetite, authority, and pricing guidelines
Participate in strategy, plans and budgets for the assigned portfolio
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other departments to cross‑sell and grow Trisura’s footprint
Prepare clear data‑driven risk assessments and recommendations for internal stakeholders
Negotiate placement terms with brokers
Proactively develop profitable new business and retain renewals by cultivating broker relationships, participating in targeted marketing initiatives and representing Trisura at industry events and association functions
Maintain and expand technical knowledge of financial lines coverages and market trends, including relevant industry, business and legal trends and their impact on Trisura’s product offerings
Be resourceful to solve complex matters for the brokerage community
Strengthen and broaden the company’s brand and market footprint
Knowledge of management liability insurance products including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Crime and new products, as developed
Possess the desire to learn, grow, and develop a career within the insurance industry
Able to travel overnight within the region and other locations based on business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or relevant work experience

The salary range is expected to be $160,000 - $220,000 plus bonus within the terms of the company plan. Trisura offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401(k) with company match and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
