Twin Maples, a premier wholesale insurance brand, is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our growing Financial Lines team. The ideal candidate will possess expert technical knowledge and strong business acumen in underwriting specialized financial lines risks, including directors & officers liability, professional liability, fiduciary, crime, and related coverages. This leadership role balances risk selection, portfolio management, broker relationship development, and mentoring junior staff—helping drive profitable growth and uphold Twin Maples’ reputation for market-leading solutions.
Responsibilities
Underwrite, negotiate, and price new and renewal financial lines business in line with company underwriting guidelines and appetite
Analyze submissions, conduct in-depth risk assessments, and determine appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing
Develop and maintain productive relationships with key wholesale and retail broker partners to generate and grow business opportunities
Serve as technical resource and mentor to junior underwriters, supporting training and professional development
Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios and profitability, taking corrective action as necessary
Stay abreast of market trends and emerging risks within the financial lines sector; contribute insights to leadership and product development
Represent Twin Maples at industry events, conferences, and broker meetings to enhance brand visibility and build networks
Ensure compliance with underwriting authority, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
Collaborate cross-functionally with claims, product, legal, and actuarial teams to deliver holistic client solutions
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Minimum 5-7 years of experience underwriting financial lines insurance (D&O, E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, etc.) in a wholesale, specialty, or carrier environment
Proven track record of profitable underwriting, portfolio management, and broker engagement
Deep knowledge of financial lines forms, market dynamics, regulations, and underwriting best practices
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally
Proficiency in underwriting platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
Professional designations such as RPLU, CPCU, or equivalent preferred
