Licensed Funeral Director Job Description:
PrideStaff is working with a local business who is seeking a Licensed Funeral Director. The Licensed Funeral Director will take on a variety of roles including planning, organizing, scheduling, directing, arranging and dealing with the deceased and next of kin. The ideal Licensed Funeral Director has multiple years of experience, holds a current funeral directors license from the state of Texas, has a current and clean driving record, and is willing to go above and beyond for those who have lost a loved one. The Licensed Funeral Director is a full-time, direct-hire position in Spring, TX.
Licensed Funeral Director Job Responsibilities:
Receives or Initiates Call to Deceased Next of Kin
Exhibiting Concern & Empathy, Obtains or Confirms Deceased & Family Contact Information, Briefly Discusses Needs (Including Languages), Schedules Arrangement Appointment, & Emails Appointment Confirmation
Cares For Deceased in a Respectful Manner
Updates Removal Status in Proprietary Software
Greets Next of Kin & Escorts to The Meeting Space
Initiates & Facilitates Arrangements Conference While Assessing Needs & Summarizing Desired Outcomes
Promotes Funeral, Cemetery, & Crematory Services & Merchandise Such as Catering, Flowers, & Music
Responsible For Reviewing & Authorizing Merchandise & Service Contract Revisions
Presides For Visitation, Funeral, or Graveside Services in a Professional, Organized, & Caring Manner Consistent With Company Standards & Shall be Present For Graveside Services Whne The Casket Containing Human Body or Cremains Are Placed in a Grave, Crypt, or Burial Vault & Verifies That Any Personal Belongings Are Removed From the Deceased Prior to Burial Per The Arrangements
Visually Inspects Deceased, Adjusts Casket Dressing, Deceased Attire, or Makeup, or Communicates Concerns to Preparation Staff
Visually Inspects Service Arrangements (Visitation, Funeral, or Graveside) Against Contractual Arrangements & The Next of Kin Expectations; Initiates Corrective Action as Appropriate; May Provide Instruction or Guidance to Services Team Members
Perform a Variety of Planning Responsibilities Including But Not limited to Resource Planning & Ordering of Music, Flowers, or Catering to Fulfill Arrangement Requests
Creating Products That May Include Scanning Photos, Ordering Memorabilia or Stationery, Creating Electronic Presentations, Writing Obituaries, & Creating On-Line Memorials
Prepare Chapel/Visitation Room Including But Not Limited to Set-Up Chairs, Tables, Flowers, Guest Books, & Appropriate Decor
May Perform a Variety of Attendant Duties Including But Not Limited to Parking Lot Attendant, Driver, Paul bearer, or Courier
May Attend Community or Charity Events to Represent & Promote The Location
Cares For Deceased in a Respectful Manner, Following Company Processes & Procedures, Verifies Identification, Reviews Embalming Authorization; Adheres to Hazardous Waste Procedures Cleans & Embalms Body; Uses Scalpels, Pumps, Tubes, & Equipment to Replace Bodily Fluids/Waste With Embalming Fluids; Performs Restorations, Styling Hair, Applying Cosmetics, Dressing Body, & Other Preparation Required For Human Remains
Verifies Appropriate Casket & Lining According to Contract
Dresses, Casket & Lays Deceased
Updates Status on The Property Sheet
Maintains Preparation Room, Cleans Soiled Equipment, Properly Disposes of Hazardous Waste, & Promotes a Safe Work Environment
New Associates Are Learning to Apply Licensure to Business Environment Complying With Regulations, Policies, & Procedures; Work May be Peer Reviewed For Accuracy, Quality, & Education; Collaborates With Peers or Manager For Assistance & Guidance
Exhibits Accountability For Behaviors
Ensures Compliance With Local, State, & Federal Regulations
Takes The Initiative to Discuss Assignments, Expectations, Priorities, & Deadlines as Well as Seek Guidance & Coaching From Manager
Notifies Manager When Workload is Light & Volunteers For Additional Work
Adjusts Effectively to Work Within New Work Structures, Processes, Requirements, or Cultures
Additional Responsibilities as Requested or Assigned
Must be Able to Retain Confidentiality
Environment- Work is Both Indoors & Outdoors During All Seasons & Weather
Attire- Professional Business Attire Required When in Contact With Families
Postures- Frequent Continuous Periods of Sitting or Standing, Frequently Climbing Stairs to Access Building
Licensed Funeral Director Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Graduated From an Accredited School or College of Mortuary Science
Current Funeral Director License Within The State of Texas
Valid State Driver’s License With an Acceptable Driving Record Required to Operate Company Owned Vehicles
Cognitive Ability Includes Following Instruction, Reasoning, Planning, Identifying Problems, Learning Quickly, Learning From Experience, & Appropriately Applying Learing to New Situations
Must be Able to Learn & Use Company Software

Ability to Lift up to 75lbs & Push/Pull up to 150lbs on Flat & inclined Flooring or Ramps
