Creative Ecosystem Scoping & Community Catalyst
Organization: CrowdDoing in support of Broadway Creative Studios (The Historic Mabuhay Gardens) Location: Virtual (Global) or Hybrid (for SF Bay Area locals) Type: Unpaid Volunteer Role | Flexible Hours
The Opportunity: Steward the Rebirth of a Legend
Are you a polymath, a connector, or a cultural strategist? Do you believe that art, technology, and social change should play together?
We are looking for a Creative Ecosystem Scoping & Community Catalyst to serve as the front‑line weaver for the regeneration of Broadway Creative Studios (formerly the legendary Mabuhay Gardens or "The Fab Mab").
This historic venue has hosted jazz legends, punk icons, and comedy icons for over a century. Now under the leadership of Tom Watson and Bobby Fishkin, we’re transforming it into a "20‑Hour‑a‑Day" utopia – a thriving ecosystem that operates from 6 AM to 2 AM, where joy, somatic expression, and multidisciplinary innovation intersect.
Your Mission
You will be the "Air Traffic Controller" for creativity. As the first point of contact for inbound interest, you will engage with artists, tech companies, philanthropists, impact investors, and community organizations that want to activate this space. Your goal is to scope their needs and match them to our vision of a regenerative future.
What You Will Do
Ignite & Scope: Respond warmly to inquiries from potential partners, artists, and fellows. Conduct discovery sessions to understand their vision and determine how they fit into our 20‑hour daily ecosystem.
Weave Connections: Act as a translational leader, identifying opportunities to connect a tech sponsor with a visual artist or a social enterprise with a venue event, ensuring sustainable pathways for participation.
Curate the Calendar: Document and synthesize ideas to build a diverse schedule that balances revenue‑generating events with community‑driven "gift economy" impact.
Systematize Serendipity: Maintain a dynamic digital dashboard of inquiries and tailored solutions, ensuring no spark of genius gets lost in the inbox.
Design impact‑aligned revenue‑generating events and support the design efforts of our collaborative leadership team.
Champion Diversity: Actively help shape engagement strategies that ensure our "utopian cultural fusion" is accessible, diverse, and deeply rooted in the San Francisco community.
Who You Are
A Cultural Translator: Comfortable speaking the languages of different worlds—understanding the needs of a punk rocker as easily as those of a tech venture capitalist or a non‑profit director.
A "Regenerative Human": Resonates with concepts like Solarpunk, systems change, somatic healing, and the gift economy.
Organized & Empathetic: Strong listening skills and ability to organize chaotic creative ideas into clear, actionable project scopes (experience in community management, intake, or event production is a plus).
Tech Savvy: Comfortable using digital collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, CRMs) to coordinate with a virtual global team.
Passionate about SF History: Enthusiastic about reviving the venue that once hosted Louis Armstrong and Robin Williams.
Why Join Us?
Access to History: Local volunteers gain access to one of SF’s most historic spaces and its network of creative leaders. Global volunteers help advance culture regeneration through radical collaboration.
Global Impact: Work alongside the CrowdDoing global network, collaborating with professionals from over 30 countries on systemic change.
Skill Building: Master partnership scoping, complex stakeholder management, and regenerative design—highly transferable skills for the future economy.
The Vision: 20 Hours of Daily Creativity
We are building a future where:
Polymaths feel safe to thrive across disciplines.
Global Creativity finds its epicenter in North Beach, San Francisco.
Joy becomes a vertex where people and possibilities intersect.
Regeneration is the standard, not the exception.
Join the conspiracy for a brighter future. Help us program the next 100 years of Broadway Creative Studios.
To apply, please express your interest and tell us: What dimension of the project’s story—regeneration, cultural legacy, innovation, or global creativity—resonates with you?
